The purple-colored 2008 Valtuille Cepas Centenarias displays Asian spices, floral notes, and assorted red fruits in its inviting bouquet. Dense, sweet, and layered, this multi-dimensional, lengthy effort will benefit from 3-4 years of additional cellaring and provide optimum drinking through 2023. Castro Ventosa’s wines are made by the renowned vigneron Raul Perez.

One of the better bargains in Spanish red wine is the 2009 El Castro de Valtuille Joven. Fermented and aged in tank, it exhibits a carbonic maceration-like nose (although it’s not). Sweetly fruited, ripe, and designed for immediate gratification, this tasty effort goes down easy. Castro Ventosa’s wines are made by the renowned vigneron Raul Perez.

More serious is the 2008 El Castro de Valtuille which spent 12 months in barrel. Complex and attractively perfumed, it has plenty of succulence, finishing with seamless wild cherry flavors. Castro Ventosa’s wines are made by the renowned vigneron Raul Perez.

2008 Bodegas Y Vinedos Castro Ventosa Valtuille la Cova de la Raposa

Even better is the 2008 Valtuille La Cova de la Raposa. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it offers up an aromatic array of exotic spices, violets, black cherry, and black raspberry. More structured than the Centenarias cuvee, this complex, pleasure-bent offering requires at least 5-6 years of additional cellaring and is likely to see its 20th birthday in peak form. Castro Ventosa’s wines are made by the renowned vigneron Raul Perez.
